Being True to yourself
A simple concept that is oftentimes overlooked in a society that is overflowing with conditioning. Societal conditioning comes from the media, education, employment, religion, culture, family life etc. All of our lives we learn what is accepted and expected of us. We learn societal norms.
From a very young age we are shown and taught how and what to be. Oftentimes, subconsciously. We are blessed if we grow up with a family who encourages the freedom to make our own decisions and to be ourselves, so long as there is no harm done. Unfortunately, some of us have been faced with expectations placed among us by our families. Such as — what religion we must follow, what career or degree we must obtain, when we should get married, how life should be, how we should act or behave. The true tragedy is that for some, these expectations and false narratives control and lead their entire life.
This is why so many of us settle
The truth in settling is that we are choosing to limit ourselves. Where is the freedom there? Then we wonder why we feel trapped or why we are anxious or depressed. We achieved the degree or the job but we wonder why we aren’t happy. We got married but we wonder why we aren’t fulfilled. This is because we have not been honest and true to ourselves about who we truly are or what we truly want. We did not take the time to get to know ourselves so we are living a version of ourselves that someone else created for us. We made our decisions based on the expectations of society and other people. All the while, failing to honor ourselves. The harsh truth is: Our true potential can never awaken when we are living a lie.
This is why having self-awareness and self-love is so important. Only then will you be able to know, honor and respect your true self.
How do we start being true to ourselves?
From this day moving forward start making every choice in alignment with your true self. Before making any decisions stop to check in with yourself and ask yourself these 3 questions:
- Does this serve my highest self and my current goals?
- Does this decision align with who I truly am?
- Is this what I truly want?
Practicing this moving forward will completely shift the dynamic of your life. In time, your life will begin to align with who you really are in all ways. Alignment is the secret to living a fulfilling life.
Reconsider your current reality
Begin to think about if your current friendships, relationships, hobbies and career are serving you in a good way and aligning with who you really are. It’s okay to recognize that you have outgrown old friends or that your relationship is no longer aligning with who you are. It’s okay to recognize that your current career makes you miserable and your current hobbies are not supporting your growth.
It is more than okay to decide that you are ready to be who you really are regardless of what others are going to think or say about you. You have the power to change your life 360 overnight and become the real you. Nobody is going to live your life for you. You can live your life by textbook, with straight edges, afraid to be judged, laughed at or criticized. You can remain well-behaved, follow the “norms” and hold yourself back because of your fear of disapproval.
But even then sweet soul…
You will be judged, disliked, rejected and criticized. So why not live your life being who you really are? This is the secret to becoming free.
โI laugh at those who think they can damage me. They do not know who I am, they do not know what I think, they cannot even touch the things which are really mine and with which I live.โ

Honor and accept yourself
We are not perfect and we never will be. We simply are who we are right now. With all of our quirks, faults, shortcomings and wounds. All we can do is aspire to grow and become better each day. We can do this by being aware of who we really are and by being brutally honest about it. So many of us, live our life in denial about how much our bad habits or unhealthy tendencies are holding us back. We distract ourselves so we don’t have to face ourselves. This is because our egos fear the truth.
We are the only ones who can put our egos in check and we can do this by getting real. It’s okay to admit that you have a tendency to procrastinate, push away people you love, be hard on yourself or others, have unhealthy eating habits, lack self-discipline, act out of emotion, run from your fears or consume yourself in unhealthy activities too often. Whatever it may be for you, get real with yourself and accept yourself despite your shortcomings. This is the first step to loving yourself. Be aware of who you really are. Good, bad and ugly. It’s okay to admit that you have trust issues or have selfish tendencies that hurt others. Once you are aware of the truth of you, you can start to make the positive changes that will shift your life.
The Power of it all
Having this awareness is like having a new set of eyes that shows you what and who is good or bad for you, what and who you should let go of and what you need to heal. Honoring yourself is choosing to accept yourself for who you are right now but loving yourself enough to aspire to become better. It takes a strong person to live and lead an honest life.
Please know this: You can have a life that is not compromised by your ego and limited by your conditioning. You can open your mind to the reality of who you really are and who you could become. Connect with yourself, honor yourself and commit to growing so you can create a life of alignment. The power to be found here is: Fulfillment and Freedom.

These are powerful words. Distractions and outside energies will constantly try to influence our journey. Understanding them is key, but they are powerless unless given the energy. Holding our divine flow we glow.
Stay blessed keep spreading the exquisite vibes.
